How I Fast And Enjoy It.

I fast every Thursday, 12:00 am till about 6pm.

Fasting is good. Apart from the medical and spiritual benefits, I’ll tell you how I feel when I’m fasting. First, I know it should be fasting and praying but it’s been a while I set it as that, rather I fast and break first with the communion then other foods.

Many times I’ve failed at my fast by giving in to the urge to eat as early as 9am, some I remember it’s my fast day while I’m eating, some I ate before 6am since I used to wake up 11pm and tell myself I’d start from 6am proper and yet some I ate a few hours or even minutes to the finish line.

But my best fast is from 12am to atleast 6pm (even when I’m sleeping), serving in the ushering unit, broken with the communion then eating fruits when I get home. When fasting, I ensure to drink water whenever I feel hungry or tasty, avoid really stressful tasks or staying under the sun for long, avoid being too close to food or thinking about it. I decide what I’d break it with , this is to avoid binging on the wrong foods and overeat as is most common.

During fasting, there are times I feel weaker and hungrier but given time, it passes especially when I remind myself reasons why I should keep at it. I feel so much peace, less anxious and worried. I receive more Grace to manage people and I have more clarity of mind, plus knowing that it is good for my health.

By the Grace of God, I can say that I enjoy fasting. This started with the fact that my church, Salvation Ministries fast every Thursday but it has become personal for me.
